SEJ summarized Microsoft’s findings, we have compiled the most relevant information for business application here:

  • 72% of people use voice search through a personal digital assistant
  • 52% of people say they search for a product or service
  • 44% of people say they conduct additional research for products and services
  • 31% of people say they use voice search to compare products and services

The Takeaways

Of the 5 listed ways in which people use their digital assistants (the other two deal with quick searches for facts and directions), 3 are focused on searching and researching products and services. More than half of those who use voice search, search for products and services. Any business owner or operator who uses traditional SEO methods to bolster traffic to their business’s products and services should be hearing alarm bells go off. Voice search, while not entirely ubiquitous yet, is where the search is going.
