Google recently released the first in a series of videos dedicated to SEO mythbusting. Among the early questions asked and answered in the video hosted by the Google Webmasters, was the top three most essential SEO factors. Today we offer up this short, helpful list.
While everyone who does online marketing hopes to find a “silver bullet,” for SEO, nothing replaces excellent content. If the content on your site is not relevant, consistent, and purposive then it will not generate traffic. This is the first rule for a reason. Start with the foundation of content, and everything else will flow much more naturally. The technical aspects of SEO will only be effective if your content is in order.
2. Meta Data
After the content is in place, it is essential to have relevant meta tags, and a meta description. The tags and description will peg your data to specific terms and will pull up your description in search results. Some of this work can be done via automation, but your content must be in place first.
Particularly for smaller sites, speed matters. There are other factors, and speed in and of itself is not sufficient for successful SEO, but it is a factor you can control. This aspect is somewhat of a capper: If the other factors line up, performance will take your SEO to the next level.
Google’s top 3 SEO factors, given the source of the information, should be central to your SEO strategy. Contact us today for a free consultation on how we can help you moving forward!
