Facebook has recently come out with a new feature known as Facebook Professional Services. It allows users to find local businesses based on their search criteria. Users also rate businesses based on their experience, whether it is a retail store, a restaurant, or a service provider. It’s nothing new, just think of it as Facebook’s version of Yelp. You may be asking yourself, “How does this affect my business?” Well, currently 85% of consumers use the internet to find local businesses and I’d venture to say 99% of those people have a Facebook account. So, if this takes off like some of Facebook’s other features, you could either greatly benefit from this or suffer big losses. So, to help you be prepared if this does take off, you can implement the following steps to your Facebook page and be in a much better position to reap the benefits.
Keep Your Page Up-to-Date
As more people turn to Facebook for reviews, it will be important to keep your business page up-to-date and full of great content. You don’t want users to find your business only to have a bad first impression. You may want to start using a content scheduler like Buffer or TinyTorch to keep your page topped off with fresh new industry related articles.
Double Check Your Business Page Info
You’ll also want to go back into the Page Info section in the About tab of your page and be sure everything is filled out. You’ll definitely want to include a short description of your business, your business phone number, and business hours. You’ll want to emphasize your keywords in the short description of your business as this will most likely show up in search results.
Add A Call-to-Action
Adding a call-to-action to your page not only encourages the viewers to act but it also reassures them they’ve found the right place. The most common call-to-action is a link to the business website with an invitation to find out more. When a Facebook business page isn’t linked to the company’s website, it comes across as unprofessional and leaves a bad impression on the user. Remember, your job is to make their experience with your Facebook page as good as their experience with your business.
Enable and Encourage Ratings & Reviews
This may be the most important step in making sure your business is ready for Facebook Professional Services to explode. Be sure that you go into your settings and enable map, check-ins, and star ratings by checking the box beneath the map. Without doing this your page will not be able to show a star rating for reviews. You also need to encourage people to leave reviews. Not only will this help your viewers but it will likely help increase your business’s visibility.
Try Facebook Bluetooth Beacon
Lastly, if you really want to be in front of the marketing curve, you can implement a Facebook Bluetooth Beacon to your business. This will alert you when people are in your store and on Facebook. This allows you to market to your customers in a whole new way.
Now go get on Facebook and prepare your page for the wave of traffic that will now be looking for your local business. You’ll be grateful you did that when more people prefer Facebook Professional Services to Yelp or Angie’s List to look at reviews.
